That’s not in the Constitution

Anyone who keeps up with the news since at least the 1950s has to admit that there are an awful lot of lawsuits showing up against any christian symbology or text.

The plaintiffs invariably pull out the first amdendment as their reasoning. The concept of spiritual warfare tells us the real reason but I want to talk about a myth that has arisen.  That is the myth that the constitution prohibits public display of any religious trappings.  Anyone who knows me, knows I am not a fan of religion.  It is a man made attempt to get right with God.  As I have no other word to use to describe what I mean right now, I use it.

The first amendment establishes a seperation of church and state. There are many lawyers who spend their time on interpretting this constitutional law both ways. My simple observation, however, is that it seems everyone spends their time on the first half of the first clause.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,…

They forget, and hope you don’t know, there is a second half of that and that second half is stepped on and ignored in order to push forth an agenda against God.

The entire text of the first amendment is:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The church can’t tell government how to run and government can’t tell the church how to run (that includes the green pulpit movement).  Any God respecting, bible following church wouldn’t let that happen anyway.  The government can’t tell you you must become a member of a certain faith, including atheism, yet that is what they are doing every day in the public schools.  Furthermore, government can’t outlaw having a cross on your property,  wearing a star of david or even a burka.  We’ve taken this seperation of church and state too far when we fear anything that even hints at being biblical appearing in public.
